San Diego Center for Children Total Rewards Program

The San Diego Center for Children offers a total rewards program that includes competitive compensation and a complete benefits package. Our benefits package includes medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, long term disability, short term disability, flexible spending accounts, retirement savings, paid time off benefits, holiday pay, employee recognition program, employee referral program, total wellness program, and more.

Medical Insurance

 Medical insurance is offered through ANTHEM BLUE CROSS for all regular full-time employees after 90 days of employment. Providing two HMO plans and one PPO plan offers more options to our valued employees.

Dental Insurance

 Dental insurance is offered through GUARDIAN with Dental HMO and Dental PPO plan options for all full-time employees after 90 days of employment. San Diego Center for Children provides employees with the level of dental coverage that best fits the needs of our employees and their families. PPO plan provides automatic access to a Maximum Rollover account in subsequent years.

Vision Insurance

 Vision insurance is offered through ANTHEM BLUE CROSS for regular full-time employees after 90 days of employment. The benefit is an affordable vision plan using EyeMed network of both private practice and chain providers.  In addition to vision plan benefits ANTHEM BLUE CROSS offers 20% off the balance when members select a frame greater than their plan allowance and 15% to 40% off materials not covered by their plan.( i.e. extra pairs of glasses, conventional contact, lens treatments).

Group Life Insurance   

Basic Life Insurance coverage is offered through PRUDENTIAL to all regular full-time and part-time employees on their start date. San Diego Center for Children pays 100% premium for this important protection to provide comfort and security to your loved ones in the event of your death.

 

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage is offered through PRUDENTIAL to all regular full-time and part-time employees on their start date. San Diego Center for Children pays 100% premium. This coverage provides specified benefits for a covered accidental bodily injury that directly causes dismemberment.

 

Disability Insurance

Short Term Disability (STD) coverage and Long Term Disability (LTD) is offered through PRUDENTIAL to all regular full-time and part-time employees on their start date. San Diego Center for Children understands that life can sometimes present the unexpected, thus providing a way to safeguard your paycheck and savings is extremely important for San Diego Center for Children.   

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) 

  • The Medical Care Spending Account through DISCOVERY BENEFITS allows employees to pay with pre-tax dollars for certain out-of-pocket expenses not currently covered by any form of insurance (i.e., office visit co-payments, prescription co-payments, deductibles, chiropractic care, dental care, orthodontia, glasses, contact lenses, surgery, over the counter medications, etc).
  • The Dependent Care Spending Account through DISCOVERY BENEFITS provides an opportunity for employees to make regular contributions with pre-tax dollars toward the reimbursement of childcare and/or disabled dependent care expenses.
  • The Health Care Spending Account through DISCOVERY BENEFITS allows you to set aside money on a pre-tax basis to help you pay for medical, dental and vision care received during the plan year by your or any of your dependents who live with you and for whom you provide more than half of their financial support. 403(b) Tax-Deferred Retirement Savings Plan

403(b) Tax-Deferred Retirement Savings Plan

The 403(b) Tax-Deferred Annuity Plan is offered through Mutual of America for all regular full-time and part-time employee effective on their start date. A 403(b) plan is available only for non-profit agencies and is the equivalent of a 401(k) plan. 

 

Time Off Benefits

 San Diego Center for Children provides a generous benefit of PAID TIME OFF with pay to allow employees time away from work for rest, relaxation, and to pursue special interest. All full-time employees are eligible for PTO benefits. Benefit accrual begins on the first day of employment.

Employee Assistance Program   

The EAP program is provided through HORIZON HEALTH offering confidential counseling and referral services to all employees effective your start date. This program offers 5 face to face visits per incident, unlimited telephonic access, and a 24 hour crisis response by licensed counselors available seven days a week. HORIZON offers counseling on all aspects of life including:

Employee Recognition Program

A referral bonus is paid to employees who refer qualified candidates for full time employment with the organization after a certain length of employment.

 Live for Life Wellness Program was initiated to optimize the health and productivity of all San Diego Center for Children employees throughout the County. Live for life is focused on developing programs and activities. The goals for Live for Life Program include:
