San Diego Center for the Blind (SDCB) provides the first step toward adjustment to vision loss through its comprehensive and specialized rehabilitation program. These services greatly impact the vision impaired individuals’ response to his or her disability and their ultimate return to an independent lifestyle in their community. Accurate and timely rehabilitation efforts will facilitate the individual’s adjustment to their vision loss.

The CMSS Community Clinic ensures that primary health services are available and accessible during all life cycles, regardless of ability to pay, by utilizing a sliding fee scale and providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services, enabling services, outreach activities, eligibility assistance, and health education
Project Access San Diego
The SDCMS Foundation’s Project Access San Diego helps low-income, uninsured individuals receive the specialty and surgical care they need but cannot afford by leveraging community-based medical volunteerism. Project Access is dedicated to restoring patient’s ability to work, support loved ones, and enjoy healthy lives while preventing the development of more serious medical conditions. The donated consultations, surgeries, and procedures provided through the SDCMS Foundation and Project Access also help reduce the strain on emergency rooms, where most Project Access patients would otherwise turn for care.

Areta Crowell BPSR Center
Areta Crowell Wellness Recovery Center’s services are based on the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation, with emphasis on attending to the whole person and re-establishing one’s life as a result of the consequences of mental illness, rather than simply attending to the symptoms of the illness. The services focus on recovery, rehabilitation, and community integration, and are individualized to meet the needs of each client. Clients actively participate in setting service plan goals and are encouraged to involve family and significant others in the recovery plan.
