Our Summer Chef Demo Series is in full swing in our Clark Kitchen!
Each day this week, and also throughout the summer, local chefs will lead a healthy cooking class to our teens as part of our Successful Transitions Program. Yesterday, chef and owner of Chinitas Pies, Chef Christina Ng, taught our teens how to make vegetable galettes using local heirloom tomatoes and seasonal summer squashes along with a fresh basil pesto. Plus, they also learned about edible flowers of which they topped off on their tasty galettes!
One teen shared, “I had a lot of fun and I thank Chef Christina. Cooking helps soothe me. I don’t feel like freaking out and it makes me happy.”
A big thank you to Chef Christina for volunteering and sharing her expertise with our teens! Thank you as well to all chefs participating in this week’s demos: Chef Lisa Ortiz, Chef Mikel Anthony of Cast Iron Culinary, Chef Michelle Cuaresma of Good Eats and Sweet Treats, and Chef Donald Coffman of Culinary Concepts Catering.
