Established in 1924 by Ellen Browning Scripps, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla has been one of Southern California’s premier medical centers for more than 80 years. In 1964, Scripps La Jolla moved from downtown La Jolla to its 43-acre site east of Interstate 5. Today the hospital provides care for more than 130,000 patients each year, and is equipped with 312 licensed beds, has more than 2,200 employees and approximately 800 affiliated physicians. Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla offers a wide range of medical and surgical services including a Level II Trauma Center and 24-hour emergency services, intensive care, interventional cardiology and radiology, radiation oncology, cancer care, cardiothoracic and orthopedic services, neurology, bariatric surgery and women’s health services.
