Volunteer Opportunities
JoyMakers make a positive impact on the children, teens and families we serve. By providing a unique blend of volunteerism, and by raising awareness, in-kind and monetary donations throughout the year, our JoyMakers continue to make an incredible impact toward our mission. If you or your group are interested in a JoyMakers project listed below, please contact Warren Johnson, Development Manager, at (858) 634-8346 or wjohnson@centerforchildren.org.
Many of the children and families we serve are not only dealing with mental health issues that affect their family’s dynamic and individual well-being, but they’re also dealing with the stress of how they’re going to put food on the table due to the severe lack of resources. By providing a basket (or grocery bag) of nonperishable food items along with a grocery store gift card, you will help alleviate daily stressors for families and create joy for them as they spend time preparing and sharing meals together.
- Provide a food basket for a family of 4. Non-perishable food items (e.g.: rice, beans, canned vegetables, boxed potatoes) and a gift certificate to a local grocery store to purchase a turkey and other perishable items.
Bring your team to help beautify our main campus for youth at the Center. Prior groups have done light painting or landscaping. Contact us to discuss!
School will be back in session soon for the youth served by the San Diego Center for Children. Unfortunately, many of the children, teens and families we serve lack the resources for proper supplies. You can help in their success – donate or collect supplies in time for the new school year! Visit www.centerforchildren.org/ready.
