Career Horizons Program/Just in Time for Foster Youth

The program is designed to help our youth bring their employment options into focus. Through presentations, discussion, job shadowing, and one-on-one connections with powerful female role models, they are given the tools and support to recognize their strengths and include entrepreneurship and non-traditional higher paying fields in their futures. They are also given the opportunity to begin make lasting connections that can build the networks and career links so essential to career success.

Just in Time for Foster Youth: College Bound

Over the past nine years, College Bound has grown to help more than 400 youth toward success in college. Each year, the Just in Time family comes together to give transitioning foster youth the resources and encouragement they need to begin a new life chapter as college students.

Community Research Foundation: Jane Westin Center

Jane Westin Center is a walk-in, urban, center which provides evaluation and treatment that are consistent with psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery principles to adults 18 years of age and older with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring mental health and substance disorders. The objective at the Jane Westin Center is to provide mental health evaluation and treatment that will help stabilize clients who are unable to be treated elsewhere and then link them with another program for on-going medication management services and/or other services and supports. Referrals may be initiated by any individual or family member, concerned citizen, or social service provider/professional. Those interested in services can walk-in to the clinic on any weekday Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Community Research Foundation: Mobile Adolescent Service Team

MAST provides comprehensive, strength-based and culturally sensitive mental health services in English and Spanish. Our services are client and family driven, and focus on addressing client and family needs while respecting and working within cultural beliefs, supports, and norms. Many of the students have been expelled from their home school districts and/or are on probation. Outpatient Counseling Services are provided at the JCCS class sites and in clients’ homes. We welcome clients and families with co-occurring emotional/behavioral and substance use issues.

Receive resources and advice on practical matters such as budgeting, smart decision-making, and creating a savings plan to avoid future financial emergencies. Just in Time for Foster Youth: Financial Fitness Program

While most young people can ask their parents or family for advice regarding cars, housing, and other financial situations, our transitioning foster youth often don’t have that support system. JIT Asset Advisors help individual youth or groups with essential skills on how to manage their assets. The program also provides a savings plan incentive with the ability to match up to $4,500.

Just in Time for Foster Youth: LEAP Council Program

LEAP builds the capacity for young former foster youth to share their stories, connect, inspire and advocate on behalf of fellow current and former foster youth. In providing networking experiences, public speaking opportunities and strategic sharing training, LEAP provides Ambassadors with the necessary skill sets to be effective and knowledgeable liaisons to Just in Time’s services, develop professional leadership skills, and give back through youth engagement, community outreach and event planning.
