The Family Wellness Center specializes in a variety of outpatient therapy services (individual, family and group therapy), and autism spectrum treatment and support services. Our team of dedicated and licensed therapists help children, teens, young adults, and family members of all ages discover and develop individual strengths, build strong families, and provide guidance through personal challenges.

Family-Centered Approach
The San Diego Center for Children has been known as a reputable community leader of caring for children and strengthening families since our founding in 1887. We know children do best when supported by strong and healthy families, and even strong families need support during difficult times.
Families come in many forms – large, small, biological, adoptive, extended, divided, blended, fostering, and reuniting. Families come to us for many reasons. Some families wish to build stronger relationships or develop better parenting skills, or to help a child who is experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges. Many turn to us during their most difficult personal life challenges. We are here to be your advocate and provide services that will instill hope and faith of a more positive future.
School-Based Services
The Family Wellness Center is an approved Non-Public Agency with the California Department of Education and is an approved provider through California Charter Schools Association. Our staff can provide school-wide training or develop individual services to meet student Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for social and emotional functioning, educationally related services, and autism services.
Collaborative Care
Through a partnership with Rady Children’s Primary Care Medical Group, San Diego Center for Children is providing mental health screenings, referrals, and short-term therapy to families within primary care clinics in Poway and El Cajon. Pediatricians are able to refer directly to an on-site San Diego Center for Children therapist when they identify a mental health concern with their patients. Through this program, our therapists have served over 500 families in over 2 years. Through collaborative care, San Diego Center for Children is able to remove barriers to access to mental health treatment by providing services on-site and in real time.
Rates and Insurance
Children of all ages and families can access our innovative and comprehensive therapeutic services in order to receive answers to address their needs, regardless of their ability to pay.
The Family Wellness Center provides services at affordable rates and we can bill several major health insurance companies and Medi-Cal, and Victims of Crime. Reduced fee options are also available. Additionally, our staff includes TERM providers with the County of San Diego.
