Promises2Kids
Promises2Kids annually provides over 3,300 current and former foster youth in San Diego County with the tools, opportunities, and guidance they need to address the circumstances that brought them into foster care, overcome the difficulties of their past, and grow into healthy, happy and successful adults. Promises2Kids supports these children through our four core programs: Polinsky Children’s Center, Camp Connect, Guardian Scholars and Foster Funds.

Providence Community Services: Oasis Clubhouse
The Oasis Clubhouse is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Members and visitors are welcome to drop in any time during business hours. Tours of the Clubhouse are also available by appointment for visitors or new members. The Oasis Clubhouse is member-run and our dynamic programming targets the unique needs of Transition Age Youth.

San Diego Center for Children Academy
The San Diego Center for Children Academy is a nonpublic school – accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC) – allowing students a place to flourish in the classroom – and in life. Our academic and behavioral principles are rooted in finding the strengths and passionseach child brings that will allow them to achieve their personal best. Many factors can be at the root of distractive, unproductive or unhealthy behaviors at school. From developmental delays and learning disabilities to emotional and social stressors, how well a child learns and performs at school can be significantly impacted when behavioral health conditions are present. We understand many students just need extra support in their academic and personal growth that is not always available in a traditional classroom. Each teacher at the Academy is credentialed in special education, and our staff-to-student ratio allows for close instruction, direction and assistance.

San Diego Center for Children: LifeSchool
LifeSchool is the Center’s school-based program in South Bay on the campus of Southwest High School. Within the two classrooms, the Center helps up to 22 special education students, 7th-12th grade, who are struggling emotionally and academically and need higher-level support than a traditional classroom to get back on a successful life track. Students are referred from the Sweetwater Union High School District and are usually demonstrating poor performance in the classroom, both with school work and their behaviors. Many are struggling in their peer-to-peer relationships as well as with family members. The behavioral health needs of the students vary from depression, anxiety, ADHD, disruptive behavior, and many others – usually with a combination of factors contributing to their cause. The commonality is that the behaviors are negatively affecting the students’ ability to succeed at school. All students are working with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that outlines their needs and builds a unique plan to meet their goals. The Center staff represents the therapeutic component of the school-based program. The highly-skilled, culturally-competent team care about each student’s success and are equipped to share many different tools and practices for students to achieve their goals. Additionally, the team is mostly comprised of South Bay natives who are very closely connected to the community.

San Diego Center for Children: North County Academy
Located in Carlsbad, North County Academy is a San Diego County Office of Education school that is created through a collaborative partnership between North Coastal Consortium of Special Education and San Diego Center for Children. North County Academy serves 80+ students, grades 5th-12th, who are placed in the program through their Individual Education Plan. The purpose of the collaborative partnership is to offer a school designed to meet the unique academic and therapeutic needs of students with behavioral health challenges that affect their academic success. As the only program in the area equipped to provide this level of academic and therapeutic support, the environment is a unique blend of counseling, skill-building and education. The integrated academic and therapeutic environment is the result of multi-dimensional staffing that, as a team, focus very specifically on improving the student’s academic progress and overall behavioral health.

San Diego City College has student learning and achievement as its highest priority. The college provides lower division and general education courses that lead to certificates, associate degrees or transfer to a four-year college or university; career technical education programs that meet specific industry needs upgrade the employment skills of students and fulfill licensing requirements of the state of California as well as contribute to the economic development of our region.
