South Bay Community Services: Housing Services
With more than 400 units of affordable housing, SBCS is recognized as one of the regions most significant providers of affordable housing and supportive services. SBCS provides more than just shelter, residents are also offered support and resources such as fair housing assistance, financial literacy, counseling, job readiness training, tax services and more.

South Bay Community Services: Trolley Trestle
Trolley Trestle offers affordable, transitional housing for former foster youth and/or homeless youth while they finish school or complete job training. We welcome emancipated youth ages 16-24 and parenting youth.

St. Vincent de Paul Village Emergency Shelter
St. Vincent de Paul Village saves lives, inspires lives and changes the lives of our neighbors in need in the largest one-stop center in the region offering a comprehensive continuum of housing and services with no wrong door of entry or exit. The Village is located on a 3.5-block campus in the East Village neighborhood of downtown San Diego and serves families with children, single women, and single men including chronically homeless individuals, veterans and people living with addiction and/or mental illness. Providing 41 percent of all available transitional housing beds in the city of San Diego on a nightly basis, the Village is the largest residential homeless services provider in the city. The Village also manages 362 units of Permanent Supportive Housing providing people with a permanent solution to homelessness.

STEPS Program, Salvation Army
Provides a comprehensive employment/transitional living program for homeless men. Clients must be alcohol and drug free and be willing to work full-time. Services include one-on-one case management; job-related preparation with accompanying workshops; employment counseling involving interest and aptitude testing, screening, case planning, budgeting, career development, and weekly follow-up for 9 weeks regarding employment retention; and active job development and job search assistance. The transitional housing supportive services include food and clothing, grooming facilities and supplies, and transportation in the form of bus tokens/passes. Referrals for other support services are provided if necessary.

The Way Back
The Way Back provides a 27-bed residential facility for male alcoholics. The rehabilitation program includes Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings, alcohol education, referral to community resources, and individual, group, and family participation. Independent living is also offered in an 8-bed sober living center (6 months of sobriety required; placement usually follows completion of program at the residential facility).
